New! Reading Buddies for English Language Learners

Grades 1 – 8
The Library will be accepting applications for Reading Buddies who are learning English as an additional language. This program will focus on supporting children in grades 1 – 8 with their English literacy and speaking skills in July and August, when there may be fewer opportunities to practice and engage with English. Buddies meet once a week at the Library to read, talk, and play games together with the goal of growing their confidence reading and speaking in English for the new school year.
New! Reading Buddies for English Language Learners: Call for Volunteers
Application Deadline: Friday, June 6
The Library will be accepting applications for volunteer Reading Buddies to assist children in grades 1-8 who are learning English as an additional language. Buddies meet one a week for one hour in July & August to read together and practice their English skills to prepare for the new school year.
Prospective volunteers must complete an application and interview and attend a mandatory training event at the Library on June 27.
