Congratulations to our 2025 filmmakers!

The 2025 Grey Bruce Youth Film Festival Screening on June 18 was a night to remember! The audience was treated to a showing of 10 films made by students from across Grey and Bruce Counties:

  2. Day in the Life of a 17-Year-Old Capo: Wesley Seney
  3. The Story of Steven Roosevelt – A Murder Mystery: The Pathfinders of Owen Sound: Emma Blackburn, Dana Davenport, Avenly Galbraith, Bella Hamilton, Delilah Kempe, Stephanie Miller, & Ivanna Sainju 
  4. Food Snobs: Picky Eater Edition: Mia Boyd
  5. The Interview: Haidyn Ruthven
  6. Portrait of a Very Confused Girl… ?: Paxton Van Wyck
  7. A Fowl Family Vacation: Mia Boyd
  8. There’s a Monster in the House: Jaylyn Joudrey, Scarlet Whittaker, & Mare Ladner
  9. Our Voices: Haidyn Ruthven
  10. A Normal Family: Jude Hoekstra, Neve Hoekstra, Wilder Hoekstra, Nelson McLeod, Peyton Bell, & Violet Shouldice

 

A huge congratulations to all of our amazing filmmakers! The Junior First Place Award for students in grades 7-9 went to “The Quest for the Cure,” while the Senior First Place Award for students in grades 10-12 went to “Our Voices.” The coveted People’s Choice Award, voted by the audience in attendance at the screening, went to “A Normal Family.” 

 Thank you to everyone who came out to support this celebration of teen filmmaking. A big thank you as well to all the partners and volunteers who make this event possible, especially Jon Mulder and the team at the Galaxy Cinemas in Owen Sound and the judging team of Anna den Hengst, Wendel Brooks, Marléna Colquhoun, Adam Olivero, Tony Massett, Lauren McConnell, and Adrienne Wagenaar.
