The Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library is a registered charity. We will issue tax receipts for monetary donations of $20.00 or more.
Honour with Books: purchasing additional items for the collection. Donor may specify area of focus, specific titles or leave to the discretion of the selecting librarian.
Adopt-a-Magazine: covering the cost of an annual magazine subscription, either for a title currently in the Library’s collection, or may request a specific title to be added.
Andrew Armitage Grey Bruce Authors Collection: purchasing books written by authors living or who have lived in Grey and Bruce Counties. In memory of Andrew Armitage, Chief Librarian 1973-2000.
Ioleen Hawken Local History Collection: purchasing non-fiction books containing information about Grey or Bruce County. In memory of Ioleen Hawken, Chief Librarian, 1951-1973.
Adult Learning Centres, Grey, Bruce Georgian: support adult learners in our community with skills upgrading or achieving goals such as completing the GED.
Youth Services: support library programs and services for children and teens.
Poet Laureate Program: provide funding for the continuation of Owen Sound’s poet laureate. Poets laureate serve a 2-year term and promote poetry within the community.
Words Aloud: provide funding to support the continuation of the annual spoken word festival.
We gratefully accept new or used books and audiovisual materials to add to the collection or for the book sale.
We accept the following materials in new, or nearly new condition:
- Hardcover books
- Paperback books
- Music CDs in original case
- DVDs in original box
We do not accept the following:
- Reader’s Digest condensed books
- Magazines
- Encyclopedias
- Textbooks
- Computer books more than 5 years old
- Incomplete sets
- Record albums
- Video or music cassettes
We cannot sell dated, yellowed, damaged or musty items at our monthly Book Sales.
We welcome your donations, with the understanding that donated materials become the property of the Library and are added to the collection, sold or otherwise discarded at the Library’s discretion.
Yes, the Library has many volunteers, both Teens and Adults that support many of our programs and services.
